After seeing the backlash from the Glossier solution, I panicked. How can something that has so much hype to start with, be so bad for some peoples skin. My skin has always been hit and miss. When I have a break out I have a break out, but some weeks I will go through stages of having great skin.
Luckily for me, I seem to have found a routine that works really well for me (fingers crossed) and after having spotty skin for years – it seems to be finally calming down. I have quite oily skin, which means I find that my face doesn’t like a lot of things – and that some oils can make it even worse (obviously).
I have been using these since they came out and if I’m honest with you guys I’m obsessed. I use around 2 a week, but they are always on offer in Superdrug or Boots. I am that obsessed that on New Years Eve I forced my friend to all try one before we went out. I usually sit in the bath with on watching a murder documentary (living the high life I know). I find these are super hydrating and really help just give your skin a break for a bit. They save to leave them on for around 15 minutes – but they are so cooling that I just keep them on for ages.
Toners with Glycolic Acid
I am sorry to be one of them people that tell you that ‘you get what you pay for’ but in this case you do. After seeing how many people had a bad breakout from the Glossier solution I was so happy that I used the Pixi Glow Tonic. This has been my lifesaver. As soon as I feel a spot coming I use this all over my face and it just seems to minimize them. The solution, which has 5% Glycolic Acid in, doesn’t hurt my skin at all. I tried a Nip and Fab one that had the same acid in and it turned my face red so i’m super impressed. The solution smells amazing too as it has Aloe Vera and Ginseng in, which gives it a rose like smell that’s not too strong. Pixi do some really nice facial products which I haven’t actually tried yet, however if you aren’t too sure about spending you can get a smaller bottle.
PRICE: £18 for 250ml
Now this is a strange one…
The only thing that I use to clean my face in the shower is hand wash. I know… weird. But honestly I live by this. My mum told me ages ago that she read something about Jessie J using handwash and ever since I have used it. If it’s good enough to clean your hands, it’s good enough to clean your face. What’s not to love, it’s cheap and works a dream.
PRICE: £1:00 -£2.00
I am always so excited to take my make up off at the end of the day. We can all relate can’t we? I have used loads of face wipes in the past, and these seem to be the only ones that can get rid of my make up and not make my face look like a tomato. Superdrug’s own sensitive skin face wipes seem to be the only that thing that will work.
PRICE: £1:00 – £1:29
Now I am sure these are a pretty new thing and I am so surprised it hasn’t caught on more. I absolutely love these face sprays. When I wake up in the morning, I use them and then just keep spraying my face throughout the day to keep it hydrated. You can spray it on your make up too and it just keeps your face glowing throughout the day. The Mario Badescu stuff is actually a god sent. You can buy them on Beauty Bay and they really aren’t expensive at all. You can get a 118ml size for £7 or get 236ml for £11 which is pretty good value. The spray itself comes in three different scents, but the one I get is aloe cucumber and green tea and it is amazing. I would say this is my best investment this year!
PRICE: £7-£11 depending on size
So there you are – my skin care must haves.
I really want to do a Youtube video talking a bit more about skin care – let me know in the comments if that is something you’d like!
