How to boss being a girl boss – from the expert.

How to boss being a girl boss – from the expert.

Happy International Womens day 2018. This is honestly one of my favorite days, just because we actually celebrate women being nice to each other, which is sometimes rare to find.

I thought i’d do a different type of post for you guys, instead of me just sitting and talking at you, I thought i’d take the time to interview  the ultimate girl boss. The lady that has taught me everything. My mum.

I have always wanted to talk more about my family on here and thought this was the time to do so. I hope you enjoy.

Me: “What is the hardest thing you have ever had to do deal with and how did you over come it?”

Mum: “The sudden and premature death of my mum the day before my 23rd birthday. That is something that I have never and will never overcome. I just got up each day and dealt with whatever that day presented me with.”

Me: “We all have come across difficult people in life. How do you deal with them?”

Mum: “I try and deal with all bitchy people with kindness if possible. If not I just try and ignore them, they don’t deserve your attention.”

Me: “What is the most important quality in a woman?”

Mum: “There are lots of different qualities I like in my friends, and in all women. I’m not sure if it is the most important, bit I respect honesty in all people.”

Me: “Do you still think the gender pay gap exists?”

Mum: “Unfortunately yes.”

Me: “As a mum what is the most important thing that you wanted to teach your children?”

Mum: “I just wanted to teach my children that your best is good enough. You can only get out of life what you put into it.”

Me: “Do you think social media has an impact on women empowerment?”

Mum: “In some respects – yes. There is good and bad in everything. Social media can be a negative influence on women because it can sometimes portray unattainable images and goals.”

Me: “What quote do you live by?”

Mum: “You are so much stronger than you think.”

So there you are – the words right from the expert. Firstly, I just want to thank my mum for even doing this. She answered all my questions with honesty and that is something that I will always respect about her. If you don’t know my mum, she is a total girl boss, an absolutely legend. For years she has always put everyone before herself, teaching us that we can always do whatever we want. I’ve touched on how supportive she has been in previous posts, but she always taught me to never give up. Not only that she always gave me a virtual slap when I was being silly, or told brutally to pull myself together, which has shaped who I am today.

Talking to her today, it has made me realise that we are all so different. We all define success in different ways, and that is something that we all need to learn. Thanks mum for always being an absolute babe and always encouraging me to stick with women not against them.

Here’s to strong women. May we know them. May we be them. May we raise them.
